Changes at Children’s Books Ireland

Children’s Books Ireland is happy to announce some exciting changes to our board and staff.

Kim Harte will join the Children’s Books Ireland team in early December as Publications & Projects Manager. CBI Director Elaina Ryan will take maternity leave from January 2018, during which time Jenny Murray, currently Publications & Projects Manager, will be Acting Director. Kim brings to the team ten years of bookselling experience as well as a qualification in library and information studies. Kim is an experienced children’s book club facilitator, CBI Book Doctor and former CBI board member. She writes about children’s books at The Forest.

CBI is also pleased to welcome Elena Browne to the board of directors. Elena is a sales administrator with The O’Brien Press, having previously worked in bookselling at Eason’s Department 51. Elena is a graduate of the M.Phil. in Children’s Literature from Trinity College Dublin, and is co-founding editor of The Looking Glass magazine.

CBI Chair Valerie Coghlan and director Irene Barber stepped down from the board at CBI’s AGM in September. Both have been long-standing supporters of CBI and the organisation is grateful for their significant contribution. Patricia Forde, who had been Vice-Chair, was elected Chair at the October board meeting, with Patrick Thorpe elected Vice-Chair. The current Company Secretary is Jane Alger.
