This year’s CBI conference theme Better Together? Collaboration and Teamwork in Children’s Books looks at the pleasures and pains of working collaboratively. Sometimes viewed as a solitary pursuit, creating a book for publication is essentially a collaborative process. We have invited creative teams, a family and those who create in solitude to address the question, are we better working together?
Inspired by John Green’s novel we’re very excited to welcome An Abundance of Katherines to the CBI conference this year! Given our theme of collaboration and teamwork we thought it might be interesting to gather four authors with the same name (at the top of their games) and see what they, their careers and their writing processes have in common!
Katherine Rundell lives in Oxford and is the author of Rooftoppers and The Wolf Wilder. In her spare time Katherine likes to tight-rope walk!
Katherine Woodfine’s career has been all about books, from working as a bookseller, to becoming Project Manager for the UK Children’s Laureate before writing her own mystery novels.
Katherena Vermette is a Canadian writer who is visiting the conference as part of our partnership with the Ottawa International Writers Festival. Her book of poetry North End Love Songs won the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry in 2013.
This session will be chaired by Irish author Cat Doyle, author of Young Adult novels Vendetta, Inferno and the forthcoming Mafiosa.
If you’re looking forward to hear from three Katherines (and one Cat), Early Bird members only conference tickets at €100 are available at 01 8727475, with day and weekend tickets for members and non-members available here.
