An exciting partnerships with An Post to encourage and promote the joy of reading.
Children’s Books Ireland have been working on a number of exciting partnerships with An Post to encourage and promote the joy of reading amongst children and families around the country. During Halloween 2019 we welcomed children and families to the Storytime Express. Hosted in Heuston Station on the historic RPSI train, there was storytelling with Oisín McGann and E. R. Murray, illustration workshops with Niamh Sharkey and Peter Donnelly, Children’s Books Ireland Book Clinics, face-painting and a magician.
An Post and Children’s Books Ireland also came together to produce the Bedtime Books Reading Guide, encouraging children and their families to discover brilliant books at bedtime. The task of gathering a collection of bedtime books for children aged 0-10 was a mammoth one. The bedtime story, whether read aloud or told from memory, is such a special moment in a family and we worked together to ensure that families have access to the best bedtime books that are available to children.
In 2020 Children’s Books Ireland in partnership with An Post invited the children of Ireland to join the #ImagineNation campaign which brought together leading Irish children’s authors and illustrators and YOU!
The #ImagineNation playbook is overflowing with activities for primary school children in drawing, writing and mindfulness exercises from leading creatives including: Niall Breslin, Fatti and John Burke, Don Conroy, Sarah Crossan, Sheena Dempsey, Sadhbh Devlin , Paddy Donnelly, Peter Donnelly, Malachy Doyle, Jennifer Farley, Patricia Forde, Chris Haughton, Shane Hegarty, Yasmeen Ismail, Oliver Jeffers, Chris Judge, Tarsila Krüse, Steve McCarthy, Oisín McGann, Mary Murphy, Áine Ní Ghlinn, Alan Nolan, David O’Doherty, Lauren O’Neill, Dave Rudden, Niamh Sharkey, Steve Simpson, Debbie Thomas, Sarah Webb, Fintan Wall, Andrew Whitson and Máire Zepf.
