Aoife Greenham is an author, illustrator and printmaker living and creating in Manchester. Her debut picturebook Big Dance was published with Childsplay International in 2021.

Originally from West Cork, she studied animation at the National Film School in Dun Laoghaire, and has worked in film and tv for many years. Deciding to return to children's media, and combining her love of silliness, colour and hand-made story-telling, she completed a Masters in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. While there, she learned from tutors and class-mates alike, and delved in to the playful world of print-making. Aoife now works from her home in Manchester, part-time in film and tv, and part-time making picturebooks and workshops. She has been known to dance the Fancy Chicken in her studio, while under lock-down.

Big Dance

Pippa is wowed and intrigued and worried in equal measures as she learns of the special moves her family and friends are preparing for the upcoming Big Dance. What if she doesn’t have any of her own? Or what if they’re rubbish? Or maybe it’s the dance itself that is silly! Before she knows it, Pippa is having a sulk and it will take everyone’s understanding, patience and love to make her see that the dance can only be ‘big’ if she takes part in it, because the Big Dance is ‘where we are all the same and all different, [w]here we can all be ourselves together.’
