The historic castle and town of Lismore provide the magical setting for the Towers and Tales children’s story festival, taking place on Saturday 18th April.
Children’s Books Ireland, as a member of WORDS Ireland, is delighted to announce a mentoring scheme which will be available to Wicklow writers. WORDS Ireland consists of Children’s Books Ireland, Ireland Literature Exchange, Irish Writers Centre, Munster Literature Centre, Poetry Ireland, Publishing Ireland and The Stinging Fly.
Now that the Easter break has come to an end, we at CBI thought we’d cheer you up by running another competition. This time the prize is better than chocolate – it is a dramatic historical adventure story set in 1916 about friendship, family and difficult choices.
Children’s Books Ireland (CBI) and the Church of Ireland College of Education (CICE) believe that classrooms rich in books and book experiences begin with teachers who are informed and enthusiastic about children’s literature. Schools provide a unique environment for children to discover the joy of books.
Ten titles will compete for the 25th CBI Book of the Year Awards 2015, the most prestigious awards for children’s books in Ireland.
CBI is once again supporting the St. Michael’s House Bring a book, Buy a book 2015 between March 1st and 8th. Book lovers are asked to bring books from their home and buy those from their colleagues for €2. This can be hosted in a School, Club or Business.

Back in October 2014 CBI was delighted to yet again work with The O’Brien Press on the annual Design-a-Cover competition. The book chosen was The Lost Fairy by Marian Broderick and children across the country were asked to get artistic and create a new cover for the book.
The Children’s Books Ireland Book Clinics will be touring all over Ireland in 2015 thanks to a grant from the Arts Council under the Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme.
