CBI Are So Excited To Have Anna Carey Coming To Our Conference!

Anna Carey, the award-winning author of the Rebecca series, will be interviewing Celia Rees at Children’s Books Ireland’s conference, Belonging, this September.

Though she started her career as a journalist, Anna has more than shown herself to be a talented author whose books tell compelling stories of young teenage girls finding their own voice and place in the world as they struggle with the daily hardships of growing up. She has made it clear that to write engaging stories for young readers you have to “remember how you felt when you were that age, not how you imagine the youth of today feel.”

In her most recent work, the Mollie series, Anna has continued to prove herself a skilled writer, moving from a contemporary setting to historical fiction, making the story of the Suffragette movement accessible to a younger generation. An important part of the past to keep alive today, as modern readers face their own struggles for acceptance.

We can’t wait to hear what questions she has for Celia, and how her own background and experiences will shape their conversation. It is definitely not to be missed!
