We’re devoting blog posts to our upcoming conference, Conceal and Reveal; Truth and Lies in Children’s Books, tickets on sale now! Read all about Mac Barnett, the Mixing It Up Young Adult panel and our New Voices presenters.
Today we’re focusing on publishers Barringston Stoke. We’ve invited MD Mairi Kidd to speak about Barrington Stoke’s dedication to cracking reading. Far more than just a publisher for struggling, reluctant and dyslexic readers, Barrington Stoke has proven itself an innovative company, working with the best authors and illustrators in the business. The authors on this list includes names like former CBI Book of the Year Awards international judge Anne Fine, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Laureate na nÓg Eoin Colfer, Michael Morpurgo and David Almond just to name a few. Barrington Stoke list is also full of bestselling and award winner illustrators like Catherine Rayner, David Roberts, Chris Riddell, Ross Collins and Tony Ross.
Barrington Stoke’s innovations also extend to the book production process including a special edit process encouraging the input of young readers, the use of a special cream paper which minimises glare, their very own special dyslexia-friendly font and specific line, character and paragraph spacing.
We’re very much looking forward to welcoming Mairi Kidd to Dublin on behalf of Barrington Stoke, in the meantime check out their lively and informative blog for more info.
