Yesterday in the beautiful surroundings of the National Library of Ireland, CBI joined The O’Brien Press and school children from all around the country to celebrate the annual CBF Design-a-Cover Competition and present the awards!
Every year during the Children’s Book Festival, The O’Brien Press and CBI work together on the Design-a-Cover Competition, asking young artists at schools and libraries nationwide to re-interpret the cover of an O’Brien Press published book. The book chosen this year to be re-jacketed was Four Kids, Three Cats, Two Cows, One Witch (Maybe) by Laureate na nÓg Siobhán Parkinson. Siobhán very kindly joined us to speak about the origins of the book, which was originally published in 1997.
This year, like every other, CBI and the O’Brien Press were inundated with fabulous, artistic entries, giving us a feel for the incredibly impressive young artistic talent in schools and libraries across the country. Emma Byrne, designer with The O’Brien Press also joins us to talk about how she went about the very difficult process of choosing the winning design entries for the new edition.
Check out the News2Day report from the ceremony, many thanks to them for coming along!
