Child Protection and Safeguarding Webinar

February 23 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Children’s Books Ireland and Poetry Ireland are working in partnership to design and host a series of capacity-building webinars for artists who are delivering online programmes to children and young people. The webinars are free to attend.

These sessions are designed to assist and support writers and illustrators in their work and have been made possible with support from The Arts Council Capacity Building Support Scheme.

Children’s Books Ireland and Poetry Ireland are committed to supporting artists in the development of their practice and their working conditions. This is the second set of these webinars to run, and the programme will be repeated again in April.

Week 1 Webinars: Child Protection, Safeguarding and Cybersafety

Child Protection and Safeguarding Webinar with Theresa Barnett (Capacity: 50)

This webinar is focused on the Children First Programme and Safeguarding Children in the Arts.

This will include:

● An overview of the Children First Programme.

● An exploration of the context of safeguarding children in the arts.

● Review, exploration and elaboration on Poetry Ireland/Children’s Books Ireland Safeguarding Statements and Codes of Behaviour for artists working with children and young people.

This will be an introductory workshop on Child Protection issues in Ireland. Participants will be introduced to TUSLA’s e-Learning Tool. This e-Learning tool provides a certificate of completion from a nationally recognised programme and some schools/libraries and organisations now require a copy of the certificate of completion which they keep on file.
