We have launched our 2024 Pride Guide, just in time for Pride month celebrations in Ireland and across the world! Our latest reading guide is packed full of stories and non-fiction books with hundreds of new and well-loved stories exploring queer love, joy and identity as well as the adversity faced by the queer community.

The Pride Reading Guide 2024, features 100 reviews of excellent books for children and young people. A ‘read also’ recommendation is attached to each review, encouraging readers to explore further based on the titles they’ve enjoyed. Each of these 200 excellent books was chosen for their portrayal of the rich diversity of LGBTQ+ experiences.

The books featured include Irish titles such as My Momma Zo (Kelly and Zoey Allen) Mr Wolf Goes to the Ball (Tatyana Feeney), The Dos and Donuts of Love (Adiba Jaigirdar), Glórtha Aiteacha \ Queer Voices (ShoutOut) and favourites such as Heartstopper (Alice Oseman) which has been published as Gaeilge this year!

‘At Children’s Books Ireland we champion diverse and inclusive books that best reflect the world, with characters of all genders and sexualities and families of all kinds. Everyone deserves to see their story within the pages of an excellent book; representation matters, and as the canon of excellent books with queer representation for young readers continues to grow, we will continue to shout loud about the best of them and point out the gaps that still exist.'

– Elaina Ryan, CEO of Children's Books Ireland
