Tabhair airgead do Leabhar Pháistí Éireann

Creidim muidne gur chóir do gach páiste teacht a bheith acu ar shonas na léitheoireachta, beag beann ar a gcúinsí pearsanta. Tá pleananna móra againn do na blianta amach romhainn, ach tá do chúnamhsa ag teastáil chun iad a bhaint amach. Is féidir leatsa cabhrú lenár obair trí shíntiús aon uaire a thabhairt inniu, nó síntiús rialta a gheallúint mar chuid dár bpobal Leading Lights. Agus muid ag obair as lámha a chéile, is féidir linn déanamh ar am ina mbeidh deis ag gach páiste bheith ina léitheoir.

At Children's Books Ireland, we work with families, teachers, librarians and communities across the island of Ireland to get books into children’s hands and to inform adults who can make a big impact on their relationship with reading. We advocate for the changes Ireland needs to grow a new generation of readers, and we support artists so that they can make excellent work for children and young people.

We have big ambitions for the future because we know that helping to make every child a reader, makes for a better and happier society. To make this a reality, we need your help.

If you want to be part of this story and help us to bring all the benefits of reading for joy to children and young people in Ireland, please join us by becoming a Leading LightLeading Lights is a community of like-minded people who strongly believe in the vision of Every Child a Reader and are part of the solution to making this a reality.

By committing to give €10 a month you could help to ensure that we can gift books to the children who need them the most and share the education, health and wellbeing benefits that reading brings to young people

A gift of €21* a month could provide an inspiring and joyful visit by an author or illustrator to a school that will inspire a love of reading amongst the children and young people. There is no national funding in place to do this so your support can level the playing field and ensure that children from less advantaged backgrounds don’t miss out.

* Donations at this level are eligible for tax relief at no cost to the donor. By filling out a simple form, you allow Children's Books Ireland to claim tax relief from Revenue, which increases a €21/month donation, or €252, to €365.

A regular gift of €50 per month could buy 60 brilliant diverse and inclusive new books for a school library so the children can access stories that reflect the world they live in. For children who do not have books at home, this is the only opportunity they may have to access the joy of reading and all its benefits. With your support, we can ensure that school libraries are stocked with vibrant, diverse books that will appeal to young readers.

A monthly donation of €85 could allow an author or illustrator to work as a Champion of Reading with a school over a sustained period to build a culture of reading in a school community, helping them to fall in love with books and avail of all the gifts that will bring to their lives. By supporting us in this way you can help to bring the transformative culture of reading for joy to hundreds of students.

Testimonials

‘The excitement the children had at being gifted these colourful, modern, fresh books out of the blue was incredible. The books brought smiles to all of their faces, with many children owning a brand-new book for the first time in their lives, a book that they could write their name on and tuck under their pillow at night. Our heartfelt thanks for this wonderful gift that cheered so many little hearts in County Tipperary!’

- Tipperary Rural Travellers Project.

‘The launch of our library was a magical day with one child describing it later that night to her parent as her “best day ever” since she started school.’

- Ballyraine N.S. Donegal, school library recipient.

‘Giving to Children’s Books Ireland is one of the easiest things in my life. Each month my €21 donation comes out of my account and I’m not even aware of the money going out, it is such a small amount and makes such an enormous difference. I like the idea  that I am making a difference in an area that I believe in. I think more people should be willing to do that. I absolutely encourage everyone else who loves books to give to Children’s Books Ireland and be part of levelling things up. Giving to this cause is an act of complete self-interest because when children read, the world is a little bit better.’
