A growing genre in books for children and teens, sporty kids can now explore their favourite activities through reading. From Formula 1 to soccer, hurling to skateboarding, sailing to running, there are a wide variety of physical activities you can read about without getting physically active!
Aimed at readers from toddlers to teens, the Super Sports recommended reading list is a guide to stories that explore different types of sports, sporting events and athletic endeavours.
Whether you are already part of a team or are reluctant to take part in P.E, with a mix of fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels and books for dyslexic readers there is a book for every reader. Compiled with a focus on inclusivity as well as incorporating a wide variety of types of sport, we hope that within the pages of these books all readers will feel the sense of community and personal accomplishment that can come from taking part in sports.
This is a curated list of 24 titles aimed at readers from toddlers up to young adults as selected by our Publications Manager and with the assistance of our reviewers under the assigned theme. It is by no means an exhaustive list and we have tried, where possible, to include a spread of genres under this theme.
Our policy is to include titles dating from five years to date in English and ten years to date in the Irish language. Any titles by an Irish author, illustrator, publisher or in the Irish language will be denoted with a shamrock.
