The Story Makers’ Circle brings together people who want to make that possible.
What is The Story Makers’ Circle?
The Story Makers’ Circle is a giving community of leaders who believe in the power of reading to change children’s lives. Through collective support, members help Children’s Books Ireland:
- Expand children’s access to books
- Inspire a lifelong love of reading
- Support literacy, inclusion and wellbeing
- Help children grow in confidence, empathy and imagination
Why does this matter?
Across Ireland, children’s reading is in decline. Too many children grow up without access to books. They never experience the joy of reading and the lifetime of benefits it brings.
50% of children on the island of Ireland own 15 books or less.
Children’s Books Ireland works to change this but we need your help to level the playing field for every child and young person.
What your support makes possible
As a Story Maker, you will help to write the next chapter for children by:
- Bringing books into homes, schools and communities
- Supporting programmes that make reading fun and accessible
- Connecting writers and illustrators with young audiences
- Guiding adults as they encourage a love of reading in children and young people

Join The Story Makers’ Circle today
How does it work?
Every gift creates lasting impact for children across the island of Ireland. Members of The Story Makers’ Circle make an annual gift of:
€1,000 can gift books to 100 children who are experiencing homelessness
€2,500 can fund six author visits to a school to spark children’s imaginations and champion reading
€5,000 can gift 500 books to schools in areas of disadvantage
€10,000 can deliver a reading programme to children in hospital settings, offering comfort and escapism
€20,000 can provide a library of diverse and inclusive books to 20 schools so every child can feel like they belong
€50,000 can transform five school communities with our flagship programme, Every Child A Reader
