Koalas in Capes: The Robot Spiders
Bob and Archie are back for book two of the fun-filled Koalas in Capes series. Our heroes are hoping to have a day off at the annual Pawtonia Music Festival but alas, it is not to be, as there are rogue robot spiders on the loose! Quickly it becomes clear that their arch enemy Dr Colossus the supervillain ostrich is behind the evil plan to hypnotise everyone and trick them into donating their prized possessions to the fictious Baby Bunnyz Orphanage.
Things take a turn for the worst when Archie is hypnotised leaving Bob to team up with the duo’s best friend Quinn, an intrepid aardvark with a talent for tech. They bravely adventure to rescue Archie and free the animals of Pawtonia from their trance – can they defeat Dr Colossus?
This short chapter book is funny, quirky and nicely paced for young readers developing their confidence with excellent and engaging dialogue throughout. There is a nicely drawn cast of baddies – The robber ducks, robot spiders all taking orders from the mastermind behind it all Dr Colossus as the tension builds right to the end. The chapter headings and lettering break up the text making for a dynamic story and the extensive black and white illustrations add to the sense of fun and action making it a great choice for an action-packed and inviting first chapter book.
This is a book about friendship and adventure as well as overcoming adversity for the greater good – highly recommended!
