Culture Night with Laureate na nÓg and friends at Hodges Figgis
This Culture Night, Friday 18th September, Children’s Books Ireland and Hodges Figgis present an evening of drawing and storytelling with Laureate na nÓg Chris Haughton, Erika McGann, Clive McFarland and Peter Donnelly!
What better way to spend Culture Night than surrounded by books and brilliant artists? From 5pm to 7pm on Friday September 18th we are welcoming young readers and their families for an evening of engaging events with Irish authors and illustrators. Join us upstairs at Hodges Figgis bookshop on Dawson Street, Dublin 2. On the evening, paper, pencils and plenty of stories will be provided.
5:05pm – 5:35pm – Laureate na nÓg Chris Haughton
Our new Laureate na nÓg 2026–2029, author and illustrator Chris Haughton will be reading and drawing along, starting off our evening of engaging events for children.
5:40pm – 6:20pm – Erika McGann and Clive McFarland
Author Erika McGann and illustrator Clive McFarland will be hosting a live storytelling event to celebrate their latest collaboration, Nowhere for a Ghost to Sleep.
6:20pm – 6:55pm – Peter Donnelly
Author and illustrator, Peter Donnelly, will round out the evening by introducing his brand new book I am NOT a Dog.
Free Book Clinics from 5pm – 7pm
Across the evening families can also pay a visit to the free Book Clinics, running in English and as Gaeilge in store. If you have a young reader in need of some reading inspiration, pay a visit to our expert Book Doctors. You can drop in for a15-minute consultation to chat about books you love and leave with your own prescription for recommended reading.
