Who Said Boo?
This delightfully silly story is sure to bring joy into storytime as everyone in the castle tries to figure out who is causing the spooky sounds in the castle. Willis’ whimsical writing and Fitzgerald’s use of colour instantly brings readers into this magical world of green castles and mischievous green ghosts hiding along the walls seeking someone to scare. Trying to spot the green ghost blending into each green-coloured scene is something that adds a little extra layer of fun into an already delightful story.
Willis’ rhyming scheme only helps to enhance the whimsical nature of this story and Fitzgerald’s beautiful, yet playful illustrations allow this whimsy to shine. Fitzgerald’s work fits so well with Willis’ unfolding story where the characters are trying to find out who is the cause of the scares. This search very much harkens back to classic pantomime moments that will have the young reader pointing to the ghost behind them.
This is a highly enjoyable and easy to read picturebook. The rhymes and artwork blend together so easily to create a story that is unique, creative and will be of interest to any young mischief maker who likes to have a giggle.
