Everyone has a story to tell.  Help a child discover theirs this Christmas.

Today, Children’s Books Ireland launches its annual Christmas Appeal, encouraging our supporters to give the gift of reading this Christmas.

Everyone has a story to tell. But access to modern, diverse and inclusive books, many children don’t get the chance to see themselves as the hero of that story.

Just this year, we have put over 113,000 books in the hands of children that might otherwise never have had access to them. Books that spark joy and ignite their imaginations, that show difference as something to be treasured, and celebrated in our classrooms and communities.

Help us bring this joy to children this Christmas – no matter what their story is.

Anastajia Dedele and Kamilla Timofejeva discover their new library of books at Holywell ETNS, Swords, earlier this year. Their school received hundreds of new books to inspire a love of reading among their pupils.

‘Our generous donors have allowed us to do so much over the past two years. Through your support, we have been able to spread the joy of reading to children all over Ireland, at Christmastime and throughout the year.

‘We appreciate every donation, no matter how small, and we are hugely grateful to all our supporters for helping us to get one step closer to our vision: every child a reader.'

By supporting Children’s Books Ireland this Christmas, you are giving the gift of reading to disadvantaged children who may never otherwise own a book. You are giving the gift of reading to children who have experienced war and are celebrating Christmas very far from home. Not only this, but you are also giving the gift of connection, warmth, and wellbeing.

Reading has the power to change lives, help us to ignite that change.
