Baboo the Unusual Bee
Baboo is an unusual bee; he has pink instead of yellow stripes. Baboo likes to dance and tries to make friends with some of the other bees in his hive but to no avail. After being cruelly rejected, Baboo goes off by himself where he finds another unusual insect and the two become friends and dance together. They’re having so much fun that the other insects gather around to watch, and they realise they’d like to be different too!
Liliana Bird has created a lovely story in rhyme that celebrates the differences that make each of us unique and special. Illustrator Tengiz fills the book with vibrant colours and bold shapes. There are lots of little details to be picked out upon closer inspection, and the format is a glorious mix of full-page spreads and some comic book style layouts. There is lots going on to keep little eyes busy, along with plenty of bee facts on the end papers to keep junior bug enthusiasts entertained.
The charming story and illustrations combine to create a book that will become a firm favourite with younger readers.
