Bad Mermaids: Meet the Sushi Sisters
Meri Pebble loves being a mermaid spy but longs to be sent on an official mission. When a message is received saying that the Sushi Sisters are going to destroy the humans, she gets her chance. Meri knows she’s going to need help getting close to the Sushi Sisters, who are infamous for their pranks, so asks her friends Beattie, Mimi and Zelda to help.
Beattie is very excited to finally get the chance to meet the Sisters as she is a big fan and wants nothing more than to be exactly like them. She thinks that the message is a hoax and can’t wait to find out what the next big prank will be, but the others can’t help but worry and hope they can stop them in time. Meanwhile, their human friend Paris is moving to a Scottish castle beside a loch that’s rumoured to be haunted by a mermaid.
The multiple threads are woven together into a fun story with lots of twists that will keep the reader guessing to the end. Although part of a continuing series, it doesn’t matter too much if the previous books in the series haven’t been read as several new characters are introduced. With short chapters and entertaining illustrations that help tell the story, this is a great book to encourage developing readers
