The City of Fantome: The Dragon and the Dove

The stakes have never been higher for Seraphine and Ransom as they are in The Dragon and the Dove, the final book in the City of Fantome series. Ransom's magic is eating away at his soul and Sera can hardly stay upright as she creates more and more saints to defend Fantome. Can they defeat the silver-tongued Saint before everyone turns to his side?

The plot of this finale never goes where seasoned fantasy readers think it will: it is wholly original and yet the twists and turns make complete sense. The story has multiple new points of view that sweep readers away and keeps us on our toes. The introduction of some of the minor characters into the main fold made for a very exciting read and the romantic scenes are swoon worthy. Not all of the morally grey characters get a redemption arc, something this reviewer thinks is important in a fantasy series like this, and the author does not shy away from some hard-hitting scenes.

This is an epic conclusion to the series with an emotional but satisfactory ending. With laughter, tears, tarot cards and even a shadow dragon – a series finale doesn’t need much more than that! Fantasy lovers, if you haven’t read book one, The Dagger and the Flame just yet, you still have time!
