I Did See a Yeti!
A young explorer finds a family of colourful mammoths in the Antarctic, they play music, show-off on skateboards and wear fancy sunglasses. The young explorer also sees a Yeti and we see the footprints and the Yeti, but the older explorers try to convince him that he has seen a mammoth instead!
The penguins have seen the footprints too and look sceptically at the grown-ups when they don’t believe the young explorer. Even when he finds other yetis, a group playing in a band, a tall purple one and a tiny white one, still no one believes him! How can our young explorer convince the grown-ups to see the truth – he really did see a yeti!
The colours of the illustrations are rich and vibrant with each mammoth and yeti a different style. The book has a festive feel to it, without showing any specific Christmas themes. The young explorer is in a red costume with a white fleece trim, the older explorers are dressed in green and there is snow everywhere. The illustrations are highly engaging and can be used for all kinds of additional activities like counting, colour recognition, or even a game of I Spy.
This s a follow up to I Did See a Mammoth! can be read as a standalone story and is a fun book to read to younger children or to encourage older ones to read for themselves.
