Olivia Shivers discovers a world of ghosts under her nose because of her special inherited S-sense and joins S.C.A.R.E. – a team of secret agents who keep ghosts in check. This is her first adventure as she solves a spooky mystery and sets out to save her grandpa.
This is a unique story that combines traditional spooky elements like ghosts and ghouls with the gadgets and gizmos of a spy story. There are some stressful spooky situations, but Olivia and her friends have the support of other spooky agents and each other. This is a great reminder that even when we face scary challenges, we don’t have to face these things alone and can come together and support each other.
The illustrations enhance the story with distinct character designs and style that show the difference between ghosts and people. While some of the illustrations could feel spooky, there is a lovely balance between warmth and fear, especially as many of the ghosts turn out to be friendly!
