The Proud Puppy
Sisters Emmie and Paige are delighted when their parents agree to finally allow them to have a puppy each – Loki and Star. When the sisters’ uncle tells them he is getting married to his partner, Emmie has the bright idea of Loki being the ringbearer at the wedding. It soon becomes apparent that Loki is not quite ringbearer material, but Emmie is determined to keep training him to make the wedding extra special.
The pups, Loki and Star, are very different and the author writes their characters in a way that readers can appreciate their different personalities and those of the sisters too. This story is told in easy to understand language and the illustrations suit the mood of the story. The author promotes a theme of inclusivity, love and acceptance of difference in a way that the reader can easily appreciate.
This book is an absolute delight to read, but no spoilers here about who the actual ringbearer is! This is a book that is perfect for sharing between an adult and a child, particularly if there is a family wedding coming up.
