Utterly Dark and the Face of the Deep

For as long as she can remember, Utterly has felt drawn to the sea. As a baby, she was found along the shores of the Autumn Isles by Andrewe Dark, her caretaker and the Watcher of Wildsea. Strange things happen there. At night, Utterly swears that she can hear the waves calling out her name. However no one seems to believe her when she talks about it. Or perhaps they simply don’t want to.

Legends of the Gorm, a vicious creature of the sea, have been passed around in whispers by the locals for generations. Everyone knows it is safer to avoid the ocean. When Andrewe Dark is discovered on the same shore where he met Utterly eleven years ago, she decides to become the new Watcher of Wildsea and protect the locals from the Gorm. The longer she works in this role, the more difficult it becomes for others to deny the existence of some kind of mysterious magic at work throughout the Autumn Isles when things quickly begin to take a turn for the worse. Utterly knows that she must find a way to save all of her loved ones, and fast. No matter what it takes.

Reeve’s newest release is filled with intrigue, suspense, and action. Here the author explores a world where the lines between mythology and reality start to become blurred. The illustrations are highly effective, as they offer glimpses into the mystery surrounding the sea. A must-read for fans of mystery.
