Children’s Books Ireland and Tyrone Guthrie Centre Bursary Awards for Mid-Career Children’s Books Artists

With each artist taking part in a week-long residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, these bursaries are designed specifically for mid-career children’s books authors or illustrators. While several schemes exist to support emerging and debut artists, these bursaries support more experienced, published authors and illustrators who require time and space to focus on their craft to the benefit of their continuing careers, complemented with a focus on creative exchange and collaboration. Sign up to our newsletter to be notified when the next round goes live.

#ProperBook is a  series of professional development events originally created in collaboration with author and programmer Sarah Webb. #ProperBook events are practical and informative events designed to educate and enthuse children’s authors and illustrators at every stage of their career. Topics including writing, illustrating and getting published; agents and what they do; how publishers operate; knowing when your work is ready for submission; designing and delivering festival, library and school events and financial advice to name a few are presented and discussed by experienced and knowledgeable Irish and international publishing and industry experts. Any upcoming #ProperBook events will be details on our events calendar.
