Banished by a jealous Queen, two Sidhe brothers, Seth and Conal, are sent beyond the Veil to 16th-century Scotland and come face to face with the Witchfinder era. Moving from a feudal warrior existence to a tense, wary and mistrustful atmosphere, they tread carefully until their return home, but for how long?
A multilayered book that for once works and can be enjoyed on all levels, Firebrand brings history to life in a way unseen fictionally in recent times.
Through strong characters and interesting situations, this book is also relevant for today, highlighting various issues such as changing views, attitudes and positions of women in society. All of which is almost seamlessly sewn together with strong elements of fantasy.
It is a fast-paced action adventure fantasy while at the same time being a romantic family saga. It is one of the best books I’ve read in a while and I believe it has something in it for everyone. Once read, not easily forgotten.
