Hubert

Díríonn an leabhar Hubert le Caitríona Hastings ar an gcúnamh a thugann cairdeas dúinn in aghaidh na ndeacrachtaí a chuirtear romhainn agus muid ag fás fós. Agus an deilgneach air, buaileann Gearaí le tarbhmadra darb ainm Hubert. Téann Hubert in éineacht le Gearaí chuig gach áit, cé nach bhfuil sé feicthe ag aon duine eile.

Tugann Hubert misneach do Ghearaí nuair atá imní air faoi eachtraí nua éagsúla agus nuair a theastaíonn cuideachta uaidh. Leanann Hubert ar aghaidh le Gearaí go mbuaileann sé le cara nua sa scoil. Tosaíonn sé ar níos mó ama a chaitheamh lena chara ná le Hubert, agus go mall, aithníonn Gearaí nach mbraitheann sé ar Hubert níos mó, cé go bhfuil meas aige fós ar an am a chaitheann sé leis.

Insítear an scéal seo i seacht gcaibidil a bhaineann le himeachtaí difriúla, agus feictear go bhfuil Gearaí ag fás agus Hubert in éineacht leis an t-am ar fad. Tá léaráidí breátha daite a mhaisigh Sheena Dempsey gach cúpla leathanach, léaráidí a bhaineann úsáid as dathanna geala éagsúla agus a fheileann don ton. Cuireann na pictiúir beocht sa scéal, scéal atá lán d’imeachtaí a bhaineann go maith le leanbaíocht agus a mbeadh taithí ag aon pháiste orthu. Cuirtear Gearaí agus a chuid eachtraí in iúl go nádúrtha trí scríbhneoireacht shimplí shoiléir, nós a thugann taitneamh don chluas. Is cinnte go dtaitneodh na cúrsaí sa leabhar seo le páiste ar bith.

The Book Hubert by Caitríona Hastings focuses on the help that friendship gives in the face of difficulties encountered while we are still growing. Gearaí meets a bulldog named Hubert while he has chicken-pox. Hubert goes along with Gearaí everywhere, though no one else has seen him.

Hubert encourages Gearaí when he is worried about various new adventures and needs company. Hubert continues on with Gearaí until he meets a new friend in school. He begins to spend more time with his new friend than with Hubert, and slowly Gearaí  realises he no longer depends on Hubert, though he still values his time with him.

This story is told in seven chapters that concern various events, and it is visible that Gearaí is growing up while Hubert is with him the entire time. There are wonderful colorful illustrations done by Sheena Dempsey every few pages that make use of diverse bright colors that suit the tone. The pictures bring to life the story, a story that is full of events that relate well to childhood and that any child would have experienced. Gearaí and all his adventures are expressed naturally through simple and clear writing that pleases the ears. Any child would enjoy the events in this book.
