In honor of the 25th Anniversary of the CBI Book of the Year Awards we are delighted to be working with the Irish Arts Centre in New York on their first-ever festival celebrating Irish children’s literature! The festival takes place on Sunday, October 4 from 11 am – 4 pm and sees the very best Irish children’s authors and illustrators being recognized internationally. Bringing children and families together to creatively engage with literature, the festival encourages readers tall and small to discover new books at book readings, talk with those who create them, and share their love for reading through storytelling workshops. Families are invited to stay all day, or pop in to play at one of our many free events for kids, teens, and adults.
The festival celebrates the five winners from this year’s CBI Book of the Year Awards- Oliver Jeffers for Once Upon an Alphabet (winner of the Book of the Year as well as the Children’s Choice Awards) Áine Ni Ghlinn for Daideo (winner of the Honour Award for Fiction), Chris Haughton for Shh! We Have a Plan (winner of the Honour Award for Illustration), Gabriel Rosenstock for Haiku más é do thoil é (winner of the Judges’ Special Award) and Louise O’Neill for Only Ever Yours (winner of the Éilís Dillon Award for a first children’s book) . We at CBI are very much looking forward to bring this excellent authors and illustrations and partnering with the Irish Arts Centre on this new venture.
