It is a sobering thought that modern grown-ups have made such a mess of the world economy that it is now necessary to provide books to children and young readers offering them advice about how they might look after their own finances. Indeed, this book may well prove just as vital for adults as it is for children. Had some high level banking executives been given a copy during the Celtic Tiger years, we might have been spared the horrors of the recession.

The book is very clear and well laid out, complete with illustrations, quizzes and practical tips which help the reader engage with the material. The advice the book offers is concise, and never gets bogged down in any of the baffling jargon which so often acts as a stumbling block when trying to educate in matters of finance.

For younger readers, this book is an excellent starting point in taking responsibility for their money, and for adults, the text may act as a point of reflection in our own financial dealings. At the very least, it will finally help us understand APR.
