Twenty Bears on Holiday: A Counting Story

The Twenty Bears are back, and this time they’re off on holiday for seaside fun, counting and plenty of chaos! When twenty bears go to the beach, they are in for a very busy day! Each bear has their own priority, and readers will have fun counting the bears as they explore the beach.

The story follows an engaging rhyming scheme throughout, which helps the pace for reading aloud. There are lots of questions, all of which can provide a nice pause to ask children what they think about the action. The illustrations and text match perfectly to create a book that’s fun to read with younger children as they learn to count. The artwork is lush and gorgeous, and each bear feels like they have their own character: the bears have named portraits at the front, and numbers at the back, allowing children to figure out who is who, and follow them.

The chaos the bears generate means there’s always something new to find in the pages. When you’ve finished reading it once, there’s a crab to be found on each page as well. These little touches make this a great book to read again and again.
