Let's Play Murder
Let’s Play Murder follows Veronica, a 15-year-old girl whose life is in limbo as her brother, Max, is hospital bound and in need of life saving and expensive treatment. When Max convinces Veronica to pick up a Virtual Reality Headset and play with him, the reader soon learns that there is a reason Veronica has been avoiding playing VR.
While Veronica is playing a normal game of VR Hide and Seek, she is suddenly transported in to ‘The Game’, a murder mystery game which promises vast riches for the winner. Can Veronica win ‘The Game’ and in turn be granted enough money to fund Max’s treatment? The five players of ‘The Game’ need to trust each other and work together to gather clues in order to solve the mystery and find the murderer, however, there can only be one winner of ‘The Game’ …
The author creates a tense environment throughout, giving the reader a lingering feeling that something isn’t quite right. This thrilling read touches on a lot of different themes throughout – from grief and loss to teamwork and problem solving. The author portrays a great sense of fear and horror within the book also and mixes it expertly with the overall story. The fast-paced scenes and story unravelling aid in creating an ever-changing world that inspires the reader to turn the page faster and faster. A gripping read.
