The journeys undertaken by each group of animals almost defy belief, as deeply ingrained rituals of migration dictate where and when the animals must go. No reader will fail to be impressed by the determination of the animals to reach their destinations and each micro story may very well prompt some questions from fascinated readers requiring further research into the flights and formations detailed herein.
The author Laura Knowles displays an obvious love and interest in natural history with this fascinating title. Her decision to relate the factual information by having each species narrate its own personal story is a master stroke that allows the reader to empathise and become more involved with the tales.
The stunning illustrations by Chris Madden are a wonderful accompaniment to the text and bring colour, texture and life to the stories.
We Travel So Far… is a book to treasure and will surely appeal to all young animal lovers with inquisitive minds.
